RADS: Ritcan Akwamba Drilling Services

Drilling in Liberia

Ritcan Akwaba has recently commenced operations in The Mid West of Liberia at the King George/Lajor prospect of Mano River. Currently operations are ongoing, and the Client has requested the mobilization of a third, lightweight drill, to extend operations in the more remote section of the property, and allow drilling on the clients other properties in Liberia.

Boreholes are located within heavily forested areas of the property bounded by a river to the north of the prospect area. at the end of April 2005 a total of 18 boreholes and over 2000m have been completed at depths of up to 150 meters. One of the main features of this project is the heavily wooded nature of the prospect with smaller lightweight drills being requested to reduce the amount of site preparation and access works required on the project. Currently the company is operating one Hydracore 28 drill and a heavily modified Onram 150. A second Onram 150 has also been mobilised to the country.

Very difficult moving conditions with only footpath access on hills required a small man portable drill, the drilling sites can be seen as brown areas just below the crest of the hill in the picture below, boreholes of depths around eighty metres are being drilled.
