Geothermal Drilling
Ritcan Akwaba has for some time been engaged in the drilling of boreholes for the installation of ground loop heating systems or geothermal heating systems.
RADS has undertaken many projects for Earth Energy Limited who at the forefront of geothermal heating technology.
Boreholes are drilled to appropriate depths using rotary air flush drilling methods at diameters of up to 150mm. Once the borehole drilling is complete the ground loop is installed into the borehole by the our personnel. When installation is complete the pipe is pressure tested by our crew to test the integrity of the installation and once this has been checked a protective top box is placed on the borehole ground loop installation.
Projects undertaken so far have included domestic properties, RSPB and local visitor centres, and also industrial installations, the largest of which was a 45 borehole project at an IKEA distribution warehouse near Peterborough. This is the largest single heat pump application to date.
